Canard - Duchene Classic Brut N/V

Region: Montagne de Reims, France

Variety: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay

The wine has a lemon-gold hue and a fine bead. The nose is lead by a delicious yeasty, bready aroma. Behind this there is a fresh, lemony fruit aroma, with a slightly herbaceous element. A lovely mousse on the palate, which quickly fades to leave a delightful, creamily textured wine coating your mouth. There is good lemony acidity to balance this richness, and that yeasty flavour is also there. Slips down beautifully.

Canard-Duchêne is unique in its origins, history and style.

The Champagne  house has been located in Ludes, in the Montagne de Reims National Park, since 1868. Its founders, Victor Canard and Léonie Duchêne, both well-known characters in Champagne, were granted the right by the Russian Imperial Family to adopt its coat of arms as the family emblem. The crowned two-headed eagle has thus appeared on every Canard-Duchêne label since the end of the 19th century.

From 1978 to 2003, the house was under the ownership of LVMH. It is now part of the family owned Alain Thienot Group.
