The colour is ruby-red. The bouquet is complex, with ethereal, spicy overtones on well-balanced wood, intense vanilla, cooked fruit and cinnamon. Its deep, velvety and well-balanced flavour lingers on the palate, confirming the long ageing process which combines lavish nature with great technical skill. |

Fontanafredda is located in the heart of the Langhe, a world of hills dating back to very ancient times which has always been a prime growing area for great wines, particularly rich, powerful reds. The Fontanafredda estate is a major player in Piedmont, turning out massive quantities of Barolo, Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba and other Piedmontese DOCs. The whites are no less impressive. Fontanafredda as a winery began in 1878, when Emmanuel Guerrieri, Count of Mirafiori, dedicated his entrepreneurial skills to wine with passion and far-sightedness. His approach proved to be thoroughly modern, and he developed many influential techniques for producing wines of quality, in particular Barolo. Testimony to the estate's noble past remains intact today - the hunting lodge, the hamlet, the extensive cellars, the vineyards - but the winery continues to experiment and move with the times in perfecting what nature and history have handed down.
